Today Derrick rediscovered his trucks that we have put in the entry closet a few weeks ago. He was so cute going everywhere on his train and crashing all the cars. Crash, crash! After his nap we went out and about running some errands. We stopped and looked at Christmas trees and Derrick loved that. We also went to the Men's Wharehouse to get Rick some pants, and for some weird reason Derrick LOVES that store. He runs wild looking in all the mirrors. The worker knew she recognized us from somewhere, and then she remembered the last time we were there with Derrick and realized where she recognized us from. Funny. We are getting excited to go see Bolt. Derrick has sure been into watching his movies lately! And, he still loves playing in the couch cushions! Silly silly boy!
Today Rick had to go to the ballpark for a little while. We all got up early for our family. We all got a good start to the morning, which is really nice. Here's something new for the day...Derrick had his first Happy Meal today! And, he actually ate some of it. After lunch we went to the Madagascar website and printed out a bunch of coloring pages for Derrick. He loved watching the papers come out of the printer! We've been planning our Thanksgiving dinner for a while now and have only gone to the grocery store about 4 times. Rick changed his mind about one of the dishes that we decided to not do this year, so we still have to go to the store.
Happy Anniversary to me and Rick! 6 years ago today we got married! What a day. We had the best wedding thanks to my parents and Andrea! It was just my style. Today we don't have plans because we could not find a babysitter, sad. Rick finished our Thanksgiving shopping today and he brought home some caviar since we can't go out. Derrick sang lots of songs today and was filled with energy, which is probably because he actually slept through the night in his own bed last night for the first time in months! Yay Derrick! (Which means I couldn't sleep all night wondering if he was OK, checking on him 5 times! Funny how I woke up with no pain in my back and neck though, hmmmm?)
Today Rick went to work for a bit while Derrick and I hung out at home doing our "thing". It's been a while since just Derrick and I have had lunch alone together. I was not looking too forward to it since it used to be really hard. But, he actually did really good. He sat in his highchair the entire time with no complaints. The big news today is that Derrick went to his first movie in the movie theater! We went to see Madagascar 2 and it was a great movie and most importantly, Derrick did extremely well! I'm so proud of him. He sat in that theater for about 2 hours. He ate popcorn almost the entire time too! Derrick has had this thing with playing on the couch with the pillows. It kind of drives me crazy, but he loves it so what can I do?
Today is a preschool day and Derrick seems to really love it! He walks in there no problem lately. It's great. Derrick is really loving choosing his own movies for his own DVD player and own chair and own area. He goes to the compartment where his DVDs are and says open, pulls them all out on the floor and picks the one he wants. It's pretty funny.
Today was quite a day. We first woke up and got ready to go to the Metrodome to get flu shots. After we showered we noticed more backup in our kitchen sinks, which didn't make any sense to us considering we hadn't used any water in the kitchen for almost a day. Turns out our clog was deep deep deep in the pipe! So we got our flu shots and Derrick did so good. We are so proud of him. He was so cute and even said bye bye and see ya later to the nurses that gave him the shot! It was sad too of course. I think he forgot all about it when we took him down to run around on the field. We then had different plumbers come out and fix our situation. They did and now we know we would not have been able to do it on our own. After the plumbers we had a teacher with the Washington County School District come out to visit with Derrick and watch Part II of a DVD. Derrick has been chosen to participate in this "survey" thing they are doing as part of this DVD. (Only 4 toddlers in the school district were chosen to participate! Of course Derrick was chosen!) Then we went to Kowalski's and Derrick just had to get a toy snake, which was broken before the night was through.
Today we had a little plumbing emergency! After lunch I cleaned out the refridgerator and put a ton of food down the disposal. It seemed just fine until I turned on the dishwasher. Water started backing up in both sinks. We let the dishwasher run it's cycle thinking once the dishwasher drained it would drain the sinks too. Not the case. The dishwasher then started overflowing! Then there was water running into the basement! OH NO! We had a plumber come out and we determined we have a clog deep in the pipe! Meanwhile, Derrick had a very lazy day. After lunch when he was supposed to take a nap he asked to watch Cars. So Rick and Derrick sat on the couch and watched the entire movie. So Derrick skipped nap again, but then ended up falling asleep on the couch in the evening. He woke up when the plumber was here, so he got in a silly mood!
Today was Twins Family Fun Day at the Metrodome! It was so much fun! We could tell Derrick really missed going to the Metrodome! He was running around all over the place, throwing balls and having a blast. It was a really good time. He fell asleep on the way home and I tried to do the "transfer" but it didn't work. Rick set up a sheet over some chairs and made our own Metrodome that we played under. We had a really fun day!
Today we went to the Albertville Premium Outlets to do a little shopping. We didn't really need stuff, it was just something to do. We had a lot of fun. We got a few things for Derrick and some very needed clothes for us too. When we got home we popped up some popcorn and had watched TV! Yay!
Today Derrick went to preschool and was extremely tired on the way home. He took a nap right when we got home, which really changed things up for the rest of the day. We had a lot of thinkgs we needed to do. We finally got Derrick's preschool pictures today and we got an 11X14 print that we wanted to have framed like his other 3 big pictures. We went to 2 different places to see about getting it framed and it would have cost us about $300! That's just crazy! It doesn't make any sense to me considering the other 3 cost a ton less than that and those are finer prints! So we ended up buying a frame and doing it ourselves, which ended up costing us $30! Now we just have to find a place to hang it! We also had a lot of other errands to run. We needed to get Derrick some winter stuff. Derrick was very difficult! He was really cute when we got home though!
