August 29th

Today Derrick really wanted to go to the gym with me. He obviously didn't know what he was getting himself into. I got my name called to come get him after 40 minutes. He was screaming and yelling "Gym, Gym!!!" He wanted to go back. He threw a fit the whole way home. Then he threw a fit after his nap! Anyway, he was a grouch all day. Then we had my party to go to that Angie threw for me. Derrick wasn't very nice when people gave him attention. All he wanted was me or to play with Danny and Alex. He did let Angie hold him too. The party was really fun. I saw friends that I hadn't seen in years and years! That was really nice!

August 28

Today was a pretty chill day until mom and I started talking about the lawn needing to be mowed and Grandma's (Bestema) needing to be mowed. I decided that I would do it. I haven't mowed a lawn in probably over 15 years! And I've probably only mowed a lawn 2 times before that! I think my dad thought I was slow and struggling. I may have been slow, but I wasn't struggling!! I did their entire front yard and some of the back. Then at Grandma's I did the insides. My dad did the edges. I was pretty proud of myself! Then afterwards we went to La Cocina. Derrick ate rice and beens, which is by far his favorite things to eat. He was pretty tired afterwards from not taking a very good nap and layed with Grandma for a little while.

August 26 and 27

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! Good day for them, bad day for Derrick. He woke up from having a bloody nose in the middle of the night, rubbing his right eye. It looked horrible. I just held him all day. So I took him to the Dr. and found out he has an allergic infection/conjunctuvitis that has gone into the tissue under his eye. Not good. He got prescribed Prednisone (a steriod) and an antibiotic/anti-inflammatory eye drop.

August 27th. The medication seemed to have worked out just great! Derrick is back to himself! We went and met Andrea for lunch. Derrick was hillarious. It started with him screaming and made Grandma spill her iced tea! Then he got better because Andrea kept distracting him when he got bad. She was great with him. At the end of lunch he destroyed the to-go box and threw everything on the floor. When we got home Derrick would not take a nap! Oh well. (In the meanwhile me and dad were watching the game. We won! Luckily!) Then Angie, Alex, Danny and McKay all came over. The boys all played in the sandbox! This was a great day!

Monday, August 25th

Monday wasn't as busy a day. We chased a fire, hung up blinds at bestema's house and then had Ricky over to watch the game. We stayed up late and Derrick fell asleep in Grandpa's arms! Mom and me got a little goofy as usual!

Sunday morning my mom made me waffles! Her specialty waffles! Yummy! Everybody showed up again and played with Derrick in the sandbox. He got the dirtiest he's ever ever ever been! He got lots of loves from Alex and Danny! He also got lots of attention from Adam and Grandma of course!

We're here!

We arrived in SLC on Saturday. What a trip it was. Derrick did not do well on the plane or at the SLC airport. I'm sure everyone in the airport heard him. That's how Grandma found us! But, once we got to Grandma and Grandpa's we had a blast and Derrick was in heaven! Everybody showed up and we had food and then went to the park. We had races and played on the playground. Derrick was exhausted and just layed with Leksi and McKay! So cute! Then of course later that night he snuggled with Grandpa!

Stressed, but tyring to stay calm...

My title has nothing to do with this blog. I'm stressed because of our upcoming travel to Salt Lake City. But I didn't know what to name this one so I said the only thing on my mind lately. Anyway...last night we went to Owen's to play. We ended up on his driveway. First they played in the sand, and then they did artwork with chalk on their driveway. (I tried to touch the chalk, but just couldn't, wonder where D get's his sensory issues from?) This evening we visited an openhouse for a preschool that Owen went to last year. After talking to Rick we are going to register even though we will miss a portion of it. I just thought I would add a cute picture of Derrick tonight with his binky that he needs to get rid of!

Another fun day with friends!

On Tuesday we visited Claire and Brianna. Derrick and Claire love to hug eachother! They are just so cute. Then we came home and hung out with Owen for a while outside. They looked so cute with their helmets on!

Kids Day on the Field

On Sunday Derrick and I visited Rick at work and played on the field! Derrick loves these days! He loves to go in the clubhouse with his dad! Later that day he rode a car on my leg for a half an hour! It was so cute.

Fun with Jan!

Last night Jan came over for fondue and veggies. Derrick thought it was so cool that he had sunglasses. He wouldn't keep them on of course, partly due to the fact that they are so cheap they are now in the trash! Then, Jan invented this finger game that Derrick thought was so so so fun! They were very cute together!

Thursday was an off-day!

We had lots of fun. We went to Q-Cumbers for lunch and hit Toy's R Us on the way home. Of course Derrick got a truck and we got some new bedding for his BIG BOY BED! We got it all set up for him and he loves it! He likes to play on it! Then that night we went to Acapulco for dinner and Derrick ate a ton of beans!

We spent some time on the deck to watch the sunset. It was beautiful!

Derrick's been busy!

Monday we went to Colby Lake (park) with Marie and Angelo. After we walked around the lake the boys played on the playground and had a great time! Later that night Derrick and Owen played in the sand and on the porch. On Tuesday we went over to Brianna and Claire's house. Claire and Derrick love giving each other hugs! And best of all, tonight Daddy is home with us! (We are having our 2008 summer dinner, crab legs and artichokes!)

Daddy came home last night!

Rick finally got here last night and Derrick and I were so happy. As usual Daddy brought gifts home! Derrick won't let go of his new tractor book. He even slept with it last night!

This is what we've done...

On Wednesday evening, Derrick and Owen got very dirty! It had rained earlier in the day and they were playing in mud puddles! So I hosed them off and they ended up getting soaked! So they both had a change of clothes and we decided to finish playing inside! Thursday Derrick wanted to play with Owen, but he went out of town so he played by himself in the dirt!

Earilier in the week Derrick and I went shopping for Elijiah's 1 year birthday gift! Mistake! Don't take a 2 year old through the toy section for somebody else! I ended up having to buy Derrick a toy along with Elijah's! Not only that, but Elijah's toy ended up being Derrick's too! He knew I bought it and he doesn't know otherwise, so I ended up having to let him have it...therefore, I asked Elijah's mommy to watch Derrick while I got Elijah a gift so that Derrick wouldn't think that I was buying it for him.

Yesterday we had a big day. First was Elijah's birthday party. Before the party Derrick caught me putting Elijiah's toy in the birthday sack. Even though his same toy was right there, he wanted the one in the sack. He threw a fit! I had to put him in time out and take the gift over to the party so he wouldn't see it anymore! So the party went pretty well, but cake made Derrick throw another fit. We had to leave kicking and screaming! He threw a fit for about 20-30 minutes before exhausting himself into sleep. Then we had another party to go to, our good friend's Tanya and John. They have a daughter Sophia who is three months older than Derrick. I was very reluctant to go to because of Derrick's behavior! He was good at the party. He played with a toy lawnmower the entire time...then threw a fit because we had to leave the lawnmower there! What a day!!! ( He slept until 9:15 today! I wonder why!!!)
