October 29

Today Derrick went to preschool and didn't want us to leave him, but did great otherwise. We went out to lunch, which did not turn out to be very successful, unfortanely. But happily, Derrick wanted to go to the gym again! I am so proud that he's growing up to be a big boy! When we got home from the gym we carved a pumpkin. Derrick really wanted to help scrape the pumpkin. As I've been saying, Derrick has really been into watching Ice Age. We've been getting kind of sick of 24/7 Ice Age that we decided to get the protable DVD player out and put it on his ottoman with his chair in front of it. He really liked that a lot. We had a nice night.

October 28

Today we got our new dining room table and ottoman to keep Derrick's toys in!!! They are both very very nice! Derrick really likes his ottoman. He likes to get inside of it! I'm very excited about the table. It seats 8 so finally when we have people over there will be places to eat and sit. I'm even more excited to say that Derrick and I went to the gym today for the first time together in forever, and...Derrick did extremely well. In fact, it took me 10 minutes to get him out of the maze they have in the babysitting room!

Today Elijah came over to play for a couple of hours! They of course had so much fun together! (Poor little Elijah got really scared of Axel the skeleton when he first got here!) Elijah likes to follow Derrick around and copy what he does. Derrick started stacking wipe boxes up today. (We use the empty ones to put cars, trains and small toys in.) He was stacking them everywhere and trying to climb on them. While I was making dinner Derrick was climbing behind the cusions singing his normal Derrick song. Cute! There's not a whole lot that I can say about today except we stayed in the entire day except to go grocery shopping. The video is of Derrick leaving a message for Amanda.

October 25

Today we were really excited to go to the Como Zoo. They're having this big kid's Halloween Zoo Boo they call it. It is only open from 4:30-7:30 so we got there at 4:40. It was packed! We drove around for a half an hour just trying to find a parking lot, meanwhile people just kept coming in from every direction. The line to get in was FOREVER! We couldn't find a spot so we finally decided to do the Park and Ride they had available. It was like 3 miles or more away! When we finally got there, that was packed and there was a huge line just to get on the bus. We said "goodbye"! Derrick had his mind set on going to the zoo so we had to find some animals somewhere. We asked him if he wanted to go to the aquarium at the MOA and he said no! So we ended up going to the petting zoo for the third week in a row! He was satisfied with that! Then we went to this big Halloween store. When we got home Derrick decided to sing a song for me using a cup as a microphone. Enjoy.

October 24

Today before Derrick went to preschool he was just so cute, copying Rick! He has to do everything just like him, sit like him, stand like him! It's funny. On a different note, FINALLY our road got finished today. Rick was so funny, he was upstairs in the office just watching them work. Then when Derrick woke up he used Derrick as a good excuse to go sit on the porch and watch! We haven't been out to dinner in a while and really wanted to get out. We knew we had to go to Mexican or Derrick would not be happy. We looked and looked for a different Mexican restaurant to go to and in the end just ended up going to good old Acapulco! Derrick was great and ate a lot of beans! He also went to bed pretty good, which was a relief!

October 23

Today I went and got new tires on the 4-Runner. Since Lifetime is right across the street I thought I'd go over there and workout and also cancel my membership there since I never go. I actually was looking forward to going so much and had such a pleasant time working out there that I decided not to cancel my membership after all. I'll have to say though, I was so tired when I got home. It has been a really long time since I've worked out in the morning and in the afternoon. So I was so lazy. I was also craving a calzone from Boulevard Deli. Since Boulevard Deli is 1700 miles away, Rick and I did some searching as to where we could find a good one. We did end up finding a pretty good one!

Today Derrick went to preschool and did a really good job! After his nap we decided to go get a new movie to watch because Rick was getting so sick of watching Ice Age over and over again. So we went to Best Buy and got Monster's Inc. and A Bug's Life. Then we went to Trader Joe's to pick up something for dinner. That's when Derrick saw a balloon, begged for a balloon, and got a balloon. He loved playing with it, and rolling with it. I don't know what it is about him rolling around in things. It's so funny. Then Derrick sang us a beautiful song posted above! By the way...don't ever get the cheese enchilladas at Trader Joe's. They shouldn't call it enchilladas, it's basically just cheese and sauce. Yuk!

October 21

Today Derrick ate leftover soup for lunch! He's sure made some good steps in the eating department lately! Basically we just watched Ice Age all day long! We also went shopping for a dining room table. We think we know what we want!

October 20

I'm happy to say that Rick did very very well at his meeting today! I knew it would go good for him! He is such an amazing man. How in the world did I get him as my husband?

I woke up this morning to a nasty smell. The turtles!!! I had to put up with the smell until Derrick took a nap. As soon as he was down I started to tackle the clean up! I knew I wouldn't be done by the time Derrick woke up so I arranged for Derrick to go over to Owen's to play while I finished up. Derrick was very excited to go over, but didn't know I was going to leave him there without me. I thought it sad yesterday when he woke up from his nap to find out his dad was gone...you should have seen him at the window screaming for me as I left. I almost went back in to get him. But I was strong and left. I thought he would be fine after a few minutes. Sadly, I found out that for almost the full hour and a half I was gone, he was sad! I feel horrible. I just thought that since Derrick hadn't seen Owen for a while that he would have a blast. When I picked him up I stayed for a while so he could play for a while longer with Owen, "happily".

We were so excited when Rick came home tonight. I made Rick's favorite tortilla soup and guess what...Derrick ate some!!!

October 19

Today Rick is going to New York City to speak in the MLB Commissioner's Office tomorrow! Rick has been putting together a Medical Procedures Manual for all of Major League Baseball! I'm extremely proud of him!



Now the sad part, Rick had to leave for the airport while Derrick was taking a nap. I actually don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but when Derrick woke up and asked for his daddy right away I had to tell him he wasn't here. He freaked out! I told him he was on an airplane...even worse! He was absolutely devistated! It was so sad. I felt horrible for him!



Jan came over tonight and brought Derrick a gift! Thanks Jan!

October 18

Today we hung around the house and played and had a great time. We then decided to go the the Mall of America after Derrick's nap. We had a great time. We went to the Rainforest Cafe and there was this big frog character there that Derrick was obsessed with! We couldn't leave there until he said bye bye to the froggy like three times! It was so funny!

October 17

Today Rick went to the ballpark and Derrick went to preschool and I went to the gym. For once all three of us in different places! Later I got a chance to go out by myself and have some me time, which was nice. Then we thought it would be nice to go out to dinner. We decided to go to Outback even though the last time we were there, Derrick did not do so well. Well, all I need to say is, we won't be taking Derrick there again!

October 16

Today Derrick went to preschool and we got his pictures! Oh they are soooo cute. When I get the disc I will post. The big thing today was Derrick getting his first haircut! It did not turn out the way I wanted it to! I was sad. All that long curly blond hair gone! At least it's still curly! I was really worried about that. It took a little getting used to, but I kinda like it now.
