September 29

Today was quite a day. We had to wait around to see what happened with the Chicago Detroit game to see where Rick was headed off to. The game had a rain delay for 3 hours, then played for over 3 hours and Chicago ended up winning. HORRIBLE! So Rick has to go to Chicago to play a playoff game to see who makes it to the playoffs! Depressing! Derrick and I went over to Rhonda's to watch the lame game! But had a fun time with her though. On a different note, we did have some fun today. Derrick really enjoyed playing with our pillows today. He liked rolling around in them and stuffing them in the hamper. Then, Elijah came over to play earlier this afternoon and that was a ton of fun. They liked to drink their milk together! So the video I put on here is the funniest. I am so bugged by myself on this one, but it's too funny to pass up. You may want to play it over and over again because it gets funnier and funnier the more times you play it! We recorded this when we first started watching the LAME game!

Today Derrick and I went to the game hoping to clinch the division. We did win, but Chicago did too, so it didn't happen. When is this all going to be said and done! STRESS! Oh well, we had another fun night with Rick. He decided to start to decorate for Halloween. Derrick followed him around all over the place! We always have fun when Rick is home!

September 27

Today was pretty casual. Grandpa took Derrick to the park for about 2 hours! That was great! Grandpa is leaving today and we decided not to go to the game. We watched part of it and had to leave to go to the airport. It was sad to see him go! We had such a wonderful trip with him. Thanks for coming Dad! We love you so much! While Derrick and I were waiting for Rick to get home from the game, Derrick got into the newspaper and rolled around in them! (At least it wasn't plastic bags this time!) You should have seen his hands afterwards! BLACK! We had such a nice time when Rick came home that night! He was sure surprised to see the mess I let Derrick make! Derrick and Rick sat on the couch reading a book together. It was music to my ears!

September 26

Today Derrick went to preschool for his 6th time. He did good. I think he's getting used to it. He never wants to go, but ends up doing just fine. After preschool we went to Acapulco for lunch. There are some benches across the parking lot that Derrick loved sitting on! Then we just hung around and waited to go to the game. We got there quite a bit early so we decided to walk around a little bit. We got popcorn and hotdogs. Then later in the game Derrick saw the vendor with cookies, so we had to get cookies too. He was really anxious, so Derrick and I left. And...we lost to Kansas City. Bummer!

September 25

Today my dad spent forever cleaning our 4 Runner! I mean, he did a great job! He seriously spent like an hour and a half, maybe even more! Derrick took a long nap and I did laundry and stuff around the house. Nothing too interesting. Just looked forward to the final game with the Sox tonight! Derrick and I had to leave quite early because he just couldn't sit still! We left when the score was 6 to 1. (Sox had the lead.) By the time we got home we had scored 2 more runs! Then, we scored 3 more to go to extra innings! In the bottom of the 9th we scored again to win the game! We swept the Sox!!! It was so exciting! I was all by myself, Derrick was asleep. I called my mom crying and my dad! It was awesome! We did what we had to do!

September 24

Today was Derrick's 5th day of preschool. He did not want to wake up! But once I said, "do you want to go see grandpa?" he was all good. But he still didn't show any desire to go to school. He did pretty darn good this time dropping him off. He didn't want us to leave, but since I didn't carry him in, I made him walk in. That helped. Then we came home and I got to workout with my dad for an hour! After Derrick's nap we all went to the park and played, played, played. Derrick tried everything. He had a great time at the park with his grandpa! When we came home our road was finally being poured. So we sat out and watched for a while. It was pretty cool. Then we went to the game and had another really great time. Check out the video. Grandpa and Derrick are so cute. And...WE WON!!

September 23

Grandpa is coming today! We are so excited. He'll be here until Saturday. A couple of hours before we had to go pick him up at the airport it started to pour down rain. I hate driving in the rain. And when it rains here it really pounds down hard! Luckily, by the time I had to leave it let up a bit! Whew! We went straigt from the airport to the game. BIG GAME! We've got the Chicago White Socks here. They're who we are competing with for the Penant. Derrick was the best he's ever been at a game. He was so cute and loved being there with his grandpa! And very importantly...WE WON!!!

September 22

Today was a great day. We spent the entire day as a family! Rick and Derrick were outside when a bee came around them. Rick was holding Derrick and protecting him from the bee and Derrick thought it was hillarios! That's what the pictures show. The bee game. We went to lunch, Target and the grocery store. We came home and Rick and Derrick took a nap together. Then we just hung out and had snacks together the rest of the night. What a great day!

September 21

Rick comes home tonight! I'm so excited! We've not seen each other very much at all for over a month. He may be here to stay if we don't make it to the playoffs. Derrick and I didn't leave all day long again today! Derrick went downstairs and picked out a toy. He hadn't payed any attention to this toy that Ashley and Jody got him for his first birthday for months. He sat and played with it forever! Then, Derrick had a fun time rolling around in plastic bags. What a bad mom I must be letting my 2 year old play with plastic bags! (Don't worry, I was watching him very closely!) When Rick got home Derrick was so excited and so cute. After Rick brought his suitcase in Derrick says, "upstairs". That's just what Rick and Derrick do when he comes home from a roadtrip. They go upstairs and unpack together. We all had a great night together as a family! Tomorrow is an off-day!!!

September 20

Today we didn't do anything. Our road is all torn out so being parked far away gave me the excuse to just stay put! Derrick seemed just fine to hang around the house. We spent a lot of time on the deck and Derrick spent a lot of time bothering Spook! We can't wait for Daddy to come home tomorrow and for Grandpa to come next Tuesday! Yay!

September 19

Today was Derrick's 4th day of preschool. He did OK. He cried really bad when I left for a few minutes before they turned on some music and that did the trick! I'm proud that Derrick ate almost an entire scrambled egg today! We had Jan over in the evening. She made an awesome chicken salad. We sat out on the deck before it started to rain.

I've debated whether to add the big story of the day. But it really was quite hillarious so I decided to share...Derrick occasionally asks to sit on his potty, as he did tonight. He was sitting there for a couple of minutes and I decided to give him some privacy and went around the corner. A minute or so later he says, "pants, pants". I go in there and he had peed on his pants that were laying in front of his potty. I cleaned it up and afterward I said, "come on Derrick, lets go get your pajamas on." He being naked from the waste down darts off as quickly as he could, which he always does when he's naked. I then decided to just go upstairs and get his PJs and a diaper and bring them down. Less of a fight that way. I was upstairs for less than a minute. I come downstairs and I immediately smelled toots! I thought, "oh great, he's running around naked tooting all over the place and probably pushing out pee at the same time!" So he's over behind the chaise where his toybox is and I say, "come on, lets get your pajamas on. (Meanwhile, I'm just really smelling those toots, and it's getting stronger!) Derrick lays down and I start to put his diaper on and there's poop on his butt! I look over by where he was standing and sure enough, a pile of poop lays on my carpet as well as a frisbe and part of a bag we have all of his balls in! I was shocked. I looked at Derrick, then I looked at the poop, then I looked and Derrick, then I looked at the poop. It then really registered in my head. Derrick pooped on my carpet! So I go to the kitchen to get stuff to clean it up and right there in the middle of the kitchen is a big puddle of pee!!! And, he had played in it! It was streaked all over the place! I got it all cleaned up and gave Derrick a deep cleaning bath!

I obviously didn't capture any of this with my camera, but I captured how clean he looked after his bath!

September 18

Today Elijah came over to play while his mommy got an ultra-sound. Derrick was showing off for Elijah. They were really cute together. They marched together and clapped together. I was really proud of Derrick because he let me hold Elijah and let Elijah sit in his highchair! Later that night we went over to Owen's to play in his basement. Owen has been calling me Derrick for a while now. He kept on coming up to me and saying, "Hi Derrick!" or "look Derrick"! I try telling him that my name is Annette, but he just wants to call me Derrick. So we were sitting on his couch watching the game and Owen says, "Where's Rick?" So he knows Rick's name even though he's hardly around him at all and calls me Derrick and I'm around him all the time! Funny kids!
Check out the cute video of Elijah and Derrick!

September 17

Today was a great day. Derrick went to his 3rd day of preschool and it turned out great!!! He cried for me more than he has yet, but Miss Esther said he calmed down very quickly and didn't miss me the entire time. That's my boy! Great job D. I love you! Big news in our little neighborhood! We are getting a brand new road, driveway and apron, which means tons of tractors, bulldozers and such for the next few days!!! Derrick had a great time checking it out all day. I kinda made the mistake of telling D after his nap that we were going to meet Rhonda for dinner later becasuse that's all he wanted to do! He kept on saying "Onda, Onda,...car...car...Onda" I had to say...for dinner, later. He didn't get it! So finally, when we got there he was so happy so see Rhonda! Cortnie was there too, which I was so happy to see! (D pointed out Cortnie's Jeep when we got there!) We had a great time! The greatest was when Ashley showed up! He ate her rice and beans and for the rest of the night said, "Ashee, Ashee!) So cute.
